What Will Be Your Answer?

YOUTH:
I hope to see you all at our Revival Service in the sanctuary THIS Sunday night at 6:30. After the service, we will have Afterglow in the Shed where there will be ice cream and other activities. Brother Trey will be coming around at some point and taking a video of us discussing and answering this question:  Who is someone who has made a difference in my spiritual life? Specific or general. Be thinking what your answer may be!! See you soon :).

MYAC T-shirt Sizes

YOUTH:
I need everyone to please text me your t-shirt size. We are ordering youth t-shirts to wear to MYAC on the first day and to have for other trips we go on. They will be made at southern belle and will be $10. This is optional, but those who buy one will be wearing them for all of our trips! They will be navy blue with a few neon colors in the design (no hot pink boys, I promise!). The design that Lauren and Anna did looks great and I think everyone will love them. Please text me your size ASAP so they can put our order in. Thanks!!

Upcoming Events

-There will be no UMYF this coming Sunday, January 29th.  Instead, the youth should join us at 6:30 p.m. for our Revival Service.  Following the service, the youth will meet in the Shed for Afterglow.  There will be ice cream and other exciting things happening!  Hope to see you there. 

-Youth going on MYAC, please turn in your money to me by Sunday, February 5th.  If you have questions about how much you owe, you can text me!  After paying for the expenses of our MYAC trip (vans and gas), we will be splitting the fundraised money amongst the youth who helped at each fundraiser.  You will be reimbursed this money at that time.  We will talk details on this as soon as I know how much money we have leftover.  Thanks. 

-Sunday, February 5th:  Superbowl Party at the Pittman's house.  The game starts at 5:30, so we will meet at the church at 4:45 to leave for their house.  This way we can get settled in before kick off!  There will be plenty of snacks for everyone, so bring all your friends!  After the game ends, we will all return to the church where your parents can come pick you up. 

-MANDATORY parent meeting for MYAC has been moved to February 19th at 8 p.m.  It is VERY important that I have all my parents at this meeting because I will be mailing in all the forms and money the next day.  My goal is to get forms to you before this meeting so you can have them filled out and simply bring them with you.  If your insurance has changed, I will need an updated copy of it front and back please.  The meeting should not last long if everything goes as planned.  I will be giving you packets at the meeting that include details for the trip!  If you have a friend going on the trip, please let their parents know about this meeting.  I need everyone there!!  Thanks

-All spots for MYAC are now FULL!  We have 19 youth going on the trip and 3 adult chaperones.  I am so excited for the ones who signed up.  This is going to be a great trip for everyone! 

-Lauren and Anna are working on getting t-shirts made for us to wear on all the trips we take. : ).  Thought it would be fun to have our own UMYF t-shirts!  I will let you know details on prices and design as soon as I hear from them.  We will hopefully have them in by MYAC so we can wear them the first night there. 

-Each youth should bring $10 to help pay for the luncheon food expenses.  If you have not done this, please bring it asap! 

-I will be setting out a sign up sheet for Winter Jam this coming Sunday, January 29th, in the Shed.  Winter Jam is on February 26th in Tupelo at the Bancorp South Arena.  Doors open at 5p.m. and you buy tickets at the door.  The tickets are $10.  We will be getting there early to stand in line and make sure we get seats and tickets.  I will let you know details on this closer to time.  Please sign your name on the sheet if you are planning to go.  This is to help me figure out how much help I need with transportation.  This concert is going to be AWESOME.  You don't want to miss out!  There is a flier in the Shed with details of what bands will be playing if you'd like to check it out! 

IMPORTANT!!!!
- Please make it a habit to check this blog once or twice a week for updates on youth events.  The text messages I am sending are not consistently making it to everyone so I am working on better ways to communicate.  This blog, our Facebook page, and the bulletin/newsletter will be the main forms of communication, so please do your best to check one of those 3 places weekly.  If there are still questions, please feel free to text me!  I would hate for anyone to miss out on anything because of bad communication!  Thanks : ).

YOUTH LUNCHEON

This past Saturday the youth met at the Fellowship Hall to prepare for our 3rd youth luncheon.  The youth worked extremely hard and are becoming quite the cooks!  We had the ground meat cooking in one room, the brownies being mixed and baked in another, rolls being buttered and baked, green beans being cooked, spaghetti sauce being warmed, noodles being cooked, and a cleaning crew working hard to keep the kitchen spick and span!  Even when we are together working, we always have a good time.  I am so proud of the youth for the work they put forth for the luncheon and know it will be worth it all in March when we arrive at MYAC.   I would like to say a BIG thank you to Mrs. Kim Carney and Mrs. Irene Surma.  They have both helped the youth tremendously at our youth fundraisers and I especially appreciate their help and time.  I would also like to say thank you to everyone who came and supported the youth by buying a spaghetti lunch plate on Sunday morning.  The youth are extremely excited about their trip to MYAC, which is right around the corner, and we know without our supportive and loving congregation none of this would be possible.  THANK YOU!!!

Our final luncheon fundraiser for MYAC will be on Sunday, February 26th.  Mark your calendars!!

MYAC

Deadline to sign up for MYAC has been extended to February 19th.

**Because the deadline for MYAC has been extended, we will extend our Mandatory parent meeting for the trip to Sunday, February 19th as well.  The meeting will follow youth at 8:00.  Thanks for your patience on all of these corrections.

IMPORTANT YOUTH UPDATES

I hope everyone had a great Christmas break and New Year!  I am very excited about all the upcoming events we have as a youth group.  MYAC is right around the corner : ). 

Here are a few important upcoming events that you should mark in your calendar.  If you have any questions please let me know. 

- No youth January 15th due to MLK Day.
- Next youth luncheon is on January 22nd.  We will be having spaghetti, rolls, green beans, and brownies for dessert.  I am going to purchase all the ingredients necessary for this and will split it all amongst the youth.  I will let you know how much money it will be per youth ASAP. 
-We will prepare for the youth luncheon on January 21st at 10:00 in the fellowship hall.  Remember, if you would like this money to go towards your MYAC trip you MUST show up to the fundraiser : ).  The money raised will be split amongst the youth who are at the fundraiser and are helping. 
-Directly following the preparation for the luncheon we will have a Youth Council parent meeting.  This should not last too long but it is very important that you are there!  We will be discussing the details for MYAC. 
-February 19th:  Last day to sign up for MYAC. 
YOUTH will be at Bulldog Lanes in Starkville.  Meet at the church at 5:30 to leave at 5:45.  We will bowl one game and eat there if you want.  Should return around 8:30.  Don't forget your socks and around $20 if you will bowl and eat.  Need volunteer drivers for this please so let me know if you can!!          -February 19th VERY IMPORTANT MANDATORY parent meeting for youth and chaperones going on MYAC trip on March 2-4th.  The meeting will follow youth at 8:00 and should not take long.  It is so important that you are at the meeting so we can fill out new forms for the new year.  If your insurance information has changed, I will need an updated copy of your insurance card front and back that night as well.  Go ahead and place this in your calendars.  Thanks!
